Until now there has been no single place where the story of Cardiff is told.
To put that right Cardiff Council is creating a city museum, which will be developed with the people of Cardiff. These pages tell you more about what’s being planned and how you can get involved.
The museum, in the historic Old Library in the city centre, will be rich in stories, objects, photographs and film telling the history of Cardiff through the eyes of those who created the city – its people.
The free museum will be for everybody to enjoy, young and old, Cardiff-born and incomers alike.
Phase 1 is scheduled to open in 2010, but between now and then we’re running a programme of exhibitions and other activities to help us explore subjects to include in the museum, and to allow people to start making their own contributions.
We need the support and help of the people of Cardiff to make the museum a reality. So read on to find out how you can contribute and be a part of one of the city’s most eagerly anticipated new projects.
