Bringing the City Lab to life

The City Lab education area of the Cardiff Story will be full of fun games and activities, and will enable visitors to actually handle historical objects. We need your help in sourcing some of the more illusive items.

Our research team has put together a wish list of items we need for the City Lab and we'd love to hear from anyone who could help.  Items needed include:

• Victorian school items e.g. slate

• Victorian-type building tools

• Shrapnel from Second World War

• Things related to the redevelopment of Cardiff Bay

• Something from the 1958 Empire Games, held in Cardiff

• Oval cast plaque commemorating the last cast from East Moors Steelworks in 1978

• ‘Victorian' style medicine bottle

• Whisk from 1920s-40s

• Weighing scales and weights (domestic) from 1920s-40s

• Tea strainer from 1920s-40s

• Coffee grinder from 1920s-40s

• Potato masher from 1920s-40s

• Large trunk

• ‘Victorian' style small flat iron

• ‘Victorian' style poker

• ‘Victorian' style chamber pot

• ‘Victorian' style candle stick

• Carpet beater

• ‘Victorian' style scrubbing brush

• Tinder box

• Coal shovel

If you have any objects, items, photographs or stories that you feel would be suitable for City Lab please contact us on 029 2078 8334 or email cardiffstory@cardiff.gov.uk.
